HYDAC Aquamicron® Water Removal Filter Elements

HOW WATER DAMAGES
The presence of water in hydraulic systems cause many problems. For example, the saturation of very fine filters or jamming of valves. These problems are often wrongly attributed to high levels of particle contamination. Added to this, the build-up of rust and the reduction in lubricating properties on bearings and slides can lead to considerable impairment in the effective functioning of a system. This goes to show that water, too, represents a serious "contaminant" in a hydraulic system.

Previously, methods commonly used for extraction of water, have, on the whole, proven to be uneconomical in relation to the purchase price of a system. The HYDAC Aquamicron® technique offers an economically sound and yet an effective method of separating water from hydraulic media.

DESCRIPTION
Aquamicron® filter elements are specially designed to separate water from mineral oils. They are only supplied in the dimensions of HYDAC return line filter elements from size 330 and larger. This means that they can be installed in all HYDAC filter housings from size 330 which are fitted with return line filter elements.

The increasing pressure loss in a filter element which is being saturated with water indicates, by means of standard clogging indicators, that it is time to change the element. When the Aquamicron® technique is employed, particle contaminants are also separated from the hydraulic medium as a by-product. This means that the Aquamicron® elements doubles as a safety filter. The "filtration rating" is 40 µm absolute (Β40 >= 100 to Δp = 3 bar).
In order to guarantee the greatest efficiency, it is recommended that these elements be installed in an off -line recirculation loop configuration.

S Series Filter Elements

FEATURES
HYDAC Suction Strainer Elements are designed for installation into suction lines of pumps. Extra caution should be taken to ensure that the suction elements are always mounted below the minimum oil level of the reservoir. Standard models have nominal filtration ratings of 74 or 125 microns.

the suction strainer elements can also be supplied with a bypass valve to reduce high pressure drops caused by contaminated elements or high viscosity fluids during cold starting. The bypass valve opens at 3 psi. For best results, suction strainer elements should be sized for clean element pressure drops of no higher than 0.5 to 0.7 psi.

HYDAC Suction Strainer Elements are manufactured using stainless steel wire screen media. Suction strainer elements are only intended to protect hydraulic pumps against catastrophic failure caused by coarse contaminants. Suction strainer elements should be inspected and cleaned regularly. Suction strainer elements should not be used as the only filtration elements in a hydraulic system. Pressure filters and return line filters, with reasonable dirt holding capacity, must be installed to provide protection against component damage cause by fine contaminants.
