Canfield Connector

Connectors

Series P5600 Micro Protective Connector (MPC)

The Micro Protective Connectors are available in standard MINI, DIN 43650/ISO 4400 Form "A" and Sub-Micro 8mm/DIN 43650 Form "C" and 9mm. The Canfield Connector MPCs provide electrical controllers surge suppression against voltage spikes caused by the solenoids used on hydraulic and pneumatic solenoid valves. Advantages of suppression are:
  • Ideal for use with Reed Switch Proximity Sensor.
  • Reduce contact burnoff, increasing switch life.
  • High frequency interference pulses reduced, lowering electronic noise.
  • Protect programmable controllers and other types of electronic devices from inductive spikes.
  • Addition of external modules or hardware is not required.
  • Most suppression systems are available with standard connectors.
There are 5 circuit types available:
MPC Type 1 - Most commonly used in DC applications.
Diode in parallel with coil. When switch is opened, the energy stored in the coil is trapped and dissipated by the diode.
  • Increases drop out time
  • Works only with DC voltage
  • Polarity dependent
  • Supply and switch are protected
MPC Type 2
Diode & Zener in parallel with coil. When switch is opened, the energy stored in the coil is trapped and dissipated by the diode and zener diode and the coil resistance..
  • Exact limitation of inductive spikes
  • Works only with DC voltage
  • Polarity dependent
  • Supply and switch are protected
MPC Type 3
Transorb in parallel with coil. When switch is opened or closed, the energy stored in the coil is limited by the transorb.
  • Good drop out time
  • Works with AC or DC voltage
  • NOT polarity dependent
  • Coil, supply and switch are protected
MPC Type 5 - Most commonly used in AC applications.
MOV (metal oxide varistor) in parallel with coil. When switch is opened or closed, the energy stored in the coil is limited by the MOV.
  • Good drop out time
  • Works with AC or DC voltage
  • NOT polarity dependent
  • Coil, supply and switch are protected
MPC Type 6
RC network in parallel with coil. When switch is opened or closed, the energy stored in the coil is absorbed by the capacitor and dissipated by the resistor.
  • Good drop out time
  • Works with AC or DC voltage
  • NOT polarity dependent
  • Coil, supply and switch are protected
